Your First Visit:What to Expect
From the moment you walk through our doors, we aim to provide a relaxed and respectful experience. We take time to get to know you, understand your dental history, and listen to your concerns without rushing.
Here’s how your first appointment typically goes:
A review of your medical and dental history
A gentle, thorough exam by Dr. Carner
Any necessary X-rays
A discussion of next steps or treatment options (if needed)
We won’t pressure you into treatments, and we’ll explain everything in everyday language. You’ll always have the opportunity to ask questions before moving forward.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
No referral is needed. Patients can contact us directly to schedule a consultation, whether it’s for ongoing care or a one-time evaluation.
What if I have anxiety about dental work?
You’re not alone — many of our patients have had tough dental experiences in the past. Dr. Carner and our staff prioritize your comfort and take time to explain everything before we begin. If you have specific concerns, let us know and we’ll work with you.
How long does the first appointment take?
Most first appointments last around 60 to 90 minutes, depending on whether we need to take X-rays or if you’ve brought recent ones with you.
Do you treat children or teens?
While our specialty focuses on adults, especially those dealing with gum disease and implant needs, we do see some younger patients, particularly for gum grafting or implant evaluations.
